Oncosil's extension of brachytherapy into the pancreatic area may well be the big step needed in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. The disease has a poor prognosis and with Sirtex leading the way in internal radiation therapies Oncosil may well follow both with treatments that will help in a crippling disease but also in share price growth for holders in a company which is on a path to some major breakthroughs in this space. We are talking about a disease where usually diagnosis means there is not much hope but Oncosil can safely deliver a large dose of radiation in early treatment which de-escalate primary tumours which in turn will lead to a reduction in pain and the risk of metastatic development and death. The survival rate currently in the pancreatic cancer space is very poor with only 15% of newly diagnosed cases being resectable where the whole tumour is removed which leads to possible cure. The rest using 2 current chemotherapy drugs gemcitabine and abraxane have shown to extend life sufficiently to be considered standard of care. So this places Oncosil in the box seat to become a major player in the treatment in the pancreatic space.
