Politicians that deceive their own people with draconian schemes to portray enemies as demons and inhuman in order to sway public opinion are far more dangerous than corrupt corporate leaders wasting invetsors' money.
There is a belief that the public in a democracy are untrustworthy and must be manipulated. Nationalistic and patriotic brainwashing from birth is merely a tool that lessens questioning of one's countries motives. Media perform as information assimilators and spindoctors - politicians employ journalists as spindoctors. It's a very sick, very distorted world we live in - thankfully we have not sunk so low as the US.
