    Good point carbonman.

We may need to get some basics clear if conversation is to continue on this line, which is not a bad idea.

Thing is we are not mining water but heat.

In operation we will be utilising water at elevated pressure, not steam. ie. High pressure hot water or HPHW.

With water contained at pressure its heat carrying capacity increases with the temperature and pressure, as does steam. Higher temp. also increases its heat transfer efficiency in the heat exchanger. So hotter the better.

Are some followers able to give us the numbers on -:

    a. the amount of heat contained in 1kg of water and,
    b. in 1kg of steam? At atmospheric pressure for starters.

Also a couple of examples of the heat value in say 1kg of water at some elevated temperature/pressures.

I do not know what the design pressure the HPHW from Hab.3
is for the generating plant scheme either.(dum-dum)
Can anyone help with these basics to aid discussion?
We'll probably have to estimate an operating temperature to work with.
Maybe in the 230c area. Like it will be as hot as it comes out at.

Don't be put off by any perceived deep technicality here folks. The magic of many minds could reveal all here in an easy to understand and interesting way.

    Come on engineers.

What is the measure of heat here. kilajoules I think?

I wish I knew what pressure this system is planned to run at as the amount of heat is higher as to pressure.
