I have been keeping a spreadsheet since 2006.
ALL my bills have either doubled or TRIPLED since that time. In regards to wages, I work in IT, and my wages have not been affcted by the mining boom, in fact they have not gone up at all. I have gone from working 3 days a week, to 4, to full time. I've gone from buying my lunch to taking it in every day, and I no longer buy coffees. Today I rang all the utilities, rates etc and asked to go on bill smoothing/evenpay as I need to have better control of cashflow each month.
I am by no means hard up, but I am posting here to show the sign of the times.
