If the coal fired generators were allowed to generate in the most efficient manner and sell without restraint, then power would be cheaper. That's undeniable fact.
While our electricity prices have skyrocketed, the US is enjoying cheaper power, 12% I think I read, so it is folly to pin the blame on anything other than government interference.
Of course the Yanks have cheap gas now, but so have we. Trouble is no generator here can sign a long term contract so the gas is exported to those who will.
