id card

So our John is talking up the that old chestnut the id card.
Sad that we have people of his intellect and experience not to mention access to information both classified and unclassified who believe that one piece of plastic will save us all from the lunatics of this world.
Perhaps someone should explain to him and his ilk that the four UK bombers were citizens of that country and would therefore be in possesion of such a card if required. The apparent master-mind arrived on a visitors visa therefore no need for a card.So who exactly would we be protected from, terrorists? Bin Laden's mob ? Like they couldn't make one??? Illegal immigrants? for the price they pay any card of their choice could be thrown in.Gangsters and fraudsters? these people can procure any card any time passports an all, an id card would be childs play
Its worth noting that in some countries where it does exist it is an offence not be in possession of the card at all times,so goodbye to nicking down to the beach in your togs and thongs and if you do take it with you... Well what an opportunity for any of the above mentioned.Just hope we dont fall for this nonsense, if a card is deemed necessary and is enevitable i just hope they come up with better reasons than those to date which really takes us all for mindless morons.
My money is on none of the above its for us the majority and once introduced it will never be repealed just one more freedom of choice gone for the rest of your lifetime
