back of the envelope based on HiSmelt style smelter ( commercialised as Hisanna I think) based on 2 Ml per ha ( mid range for hardwood irrigation) 40 tonne per Ha yield ( conservative I think) , 30% yield of char (low range of flash pyrolysis) and 600 kg char per tonne of steel …..About 1 million tonne of steel a year. With optimisation and efficiency I’m guessing it could stretch up 2 million tonne.
