I'm pretty sure that no-one is making steel with hydrogen "at scale" right now. If I recall correctly the Hybrit plant in Sweden was the first to make some green steel and sell it to Volvo, but it was a small amount and it was sort of symbolic or a proof of concept, because it would be a gazillion dollars a tonne if they priced it according to production cost. They're talking about "industrial scale" by 2026.
I was just reading about a process being developed in Germany where they are mixing hydrogen with other gases and they might be able to get to 50% less fossil fuel use. Maybe that will be the gateway, they'll be able to close the price gap through reduced carbon tax and increased subsidies, similar to how Tesla got through the lean years by selling carbon credits instead of making money selling cars..
I'm pretty sure that when it starts happening at a significant level we will really hear about it. You won't need to ask for evidence, it'll be all over the news.
