it should be cheaper, but its a different formula, diesel is OPEX heavy, whilst reweables are CAPEX heavy, so hard to line up. Electrolysers, Fuel Cells are batteries all wear out faster than combustion engines, so the funding cycle is very different.
I like you're thinking, but I doubt we would just have heaps extra vehicles sitting around unused, because they are very expensive, but I could be wrong.
I think its going to be all about storage, a truck operates 24x7. A battery truck will need ~5 charges, ~3 of those after the sun aint shining, so we will need at least 4 storage batteries for every battery in a truck.
Thats like owning a Tesla Model 3 with TWENTY Tesla Powerwall at home to make sure you can drive 24x7.
Thats a LOT OF EXPENSIVE BATTERIES.
On the other hand storing hydrogen is easy in large volumes, but efficiency losses are a killer.
what will be cheaper?????
