Just following up on my recent post...
My thoughts.... the excavator is the first electric excavator in BHP’s worldwide fleet.
On Fortescue's website it says...The Liebherr/Fortescue 9 400 excavator is powered by a 6.6kV substation and more than two kilometres of high voltage trailing cable, a first of an initial three R 9400 E electric excavators being delivered by Liebherr that will be commissioned over the next 12 months.
If you have a read of the news piece below you will note that BHP's R 9400 E has also been equipped with Liebherr’s autonomous cable reel system to ensure optimal mobility of the excavator on site.
On Fortescue's webste...
"The delivery of electric excavators demonstrates Fortescue’s and Liebherr’s strong commitment to decarbonising heavy industry."
On the Liebherr website below...
‘In fact, we are excited to be expanding the reach of this technology into the Australian market. We’ve had multiple orders for electric excavators this year, with several electric excavators on our order books for 2024 and 2025.’
