Hmm... I do wonder where a strong economics background could possibly tie in with any of that at all?
Elizabeth did a wonderful job without any of the background you eluded to, therefore I don't quite see how someone like Malcolm with his network would be unable to take FMG to the next level? Do you? I'd even go as far as to argue that someone with the required engineering expertise/background won't cut it in terms of leadership, or the personality/influence required.
Malcolm has all of that, and Twiggy obviously values his opinion's.
"Failed politican" is quite cute too..... tell that to his 200 million dollar net worth.
Frankly, I don't think at this point in his career he could give a flying pig's about politics either.
