Wow, a battery electric locomotive, I didn't see that coming at this stage of the EV revolution. The 4400HP (3281kW) Wabtec loco has a 7MWh battery pack which sounds like a lot but it is only 70 Tesla Model S packs and would run for about 2 hours at full power. Luckily trains (and cars) rarely run at full power for very long and if teamed up with a conventional loco to form a hybrid they could have all the benefits of regen braking with plenty of range.
The typical Roy Hill train is 2.7km long and carries 35 000 tonnes of ore so Gina certainly needs some serious toys to handle them. I would imagine RIO has similar trains.
