Obviously it would be far better for loaded trip to be downhill which in the majority of cases it would be (going from inland to port). There was a case where a large fully electric mine truck never needed charging because the mine was much higher than the refining plant. It would charge up on the loaded down hill run which provided enough power for the unloaded return trip.
