Historically, fossil fuel industries have used several key arguments to discredit renewable energy, often framing it as unreliable, expensive, or impractical. Some of the most common points they’ve pushed include:

    • Intermittency & Reliability: The claim that renewables, like solar and wind, depend on weather conditions and can't provide a steady power supply compared to fossil fuels, which can generate electricity consistently.

    • High Costs: Early on, renewable technologies were significantly more expensive than coal, oil, and gas. Fossil fuel proponents often emphasized the upfront costs of renewable infrastructure while downplaying long-term benefits like lower operational costs.

    • Land & Resource Use: Fossil fuel advocates sometimes argue that renewables require too much land or rely on rare minerals for batteries and turbines, raising concerns about environmental impact and resource availability.

    • Government Subsidies: They’ve pointed to financial support for renewables as unfair market interference, ignoring the long history of government subsidies given to fossil fuel industries.

    • Job Loss & Economic Disruption: The transition away from fossil fuels threatens jobs in coal mining, oil drilling, and related industries. Opponents have used this fear to suggest renewables will hurt economies rather than create new opportunities.

    • Energy Storage Limitations: While battery technology has advanced, fossil fuel groups have historically highlighted storage challenges as a weakness, arguing that without cost-effective storage, renewables can't fully replace conventional power.

Despite these arguments, renewables have made significant advances, proving themselves to be more cost-competitive and sustainable.

If the ALP win this election then the rocky road in Australia starting with basic agreement in 2007 to the energy wars since 2007 will be be terminated with a decisive victory for Renewables and Future Made in Australia
