I don't want to bat for either team - industrial scale or domestic scale decarbonisation. We need to do both. It seems to make sense to me that hydrogen is much further away as a solution to the small scale emissions like yer gas heaters and hot water systems.

Last time I heard Griffith speak he opened his spiel with some stats saying household emissions and business emissions for things like heating offices are - oh I forget the exact figure, but more than half Australia's domestic emissions, so not a small piece as far as our local responsibilities are concerned. I think his argument is that we have technology available right now which we are not using. Obvious and simple perhaps, but how much more idiotic is it that we have not even been using these available technologies. IMO this is a result of the climate wars, RWNJs in government, as well as the underlying denial about the urgency of decarbonising which Labor is also guilty of. When I walk around my local neighbourhood in the newly-sprung suburbs of outer Gungahlin it amazes me to see the rows and rows of gas regulators outside the new houses. In my rented house I put a piece of board over the gas stove and I use it as a shelf for a $50 induction cooktop I bought from KMart.

As for the lithium running out, I've heard assessments that when battery technology improves, sodium-based versions will be good enough for most of the applications we need... twice as good as the current generation of lithium ones.
