LUSAKA June 18 (Reuters) - Power supply has been restored to most copper mines in Zambia, Africa's top producer of the metal, after a nationwide blackout on Friday led to a halt in output, the main distributor of electricity to the mines said.

"Its back to normal, Zesco (state owned power utility) has finally restored supply," Michael Tarney, the managing director for corporate development at Zambia's Copperbelt Energy Corp (CEC) told Reuters.

The CEC supplies power to some foreign mining companies in Zambia, including London-listed Vedanta Resources Plc's (VED.L) Konkola Copper Mines, Swiss firm Glencore International AG's [GLEN.UL] Mopani Copper Mines, South African Metorex's (MTXJ.J) Chibuluma and Chinese-owned Chambishi Metals and Luanshya mines.
