Actually EVs are likely to be one of the main things that will help stabilise the grid as we continue to increase the amount of small scale rooftop solar PV systems.
in WA for example they are rapidly approaching the point where operational demand on the grid will fall below the threshold where sufficient synchronous generators are in operation to maintain grid stabilisation.
EVs will help by adding sufficient load to maintain grid stability, and also have the potential to be used themselves for grid stabilisation services.
