"PowerPod contains our patented direct drive linear generator. This converts linear motion directly into electricity and has been designed specifically for the offshore renewable energy industry.

The generator is tubular with a cylindrical central magnet stack. Linear motion, captured from the movement of waves or tides, moves a set of wire coils up and down the magnet stack. Electricity is generated in the coils as they pass through the magnetic field surrounding the stack. This electricity is conditioned and fed into the National Grid."
