African oil & gas play Swala Energy (ASX: SWE) is preparing to outline details of a potential resource, with the ASX granting the company a trading halt.

Swala's shares have been placed in pre-open.

Swala has recently been attracting interest from strategic investors, which included raising $4.4 million in a placement to two sophisticated investors priced at $0.23 per share, which at the time was an 18% premium to the share price.

Since this time the company's value has continued to rise, last trading around $0.38.

Swala is targeting oil and gas in Kenya and Tanzania, and has holdings in the world-class East African Rift System with a total net land package of over 15,000 square kilometres.

The halt will remain in place until the opening of trade on Wednesday 11th December 2013, or earlier if an announcement is made to the market.
