JAKARTA: Indonesia will host the 19th Conference on Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI) in Bali this month, which is expected to boost investment in clean technology for power supply in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
Indonesia’s CEPSI executive director Andri Doni said on Monday that the conference, which will run from Oct. 15 to 19, would involve at least 160 electricity firms from 29 countries.
“This is a great opportunity for Indonesia to learn from other countries that have successfully implemented clean technology for their electricity supply,” he told a press briefing in Jakarta
Indonesia is expected to cut emissions by 26 percent through its current programs by 2020, according to Indonesian Electrical Power Society (MKI) chairman Harry Jaya Pahlawan, who also was present at the press briefing.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik is slated to open the conference on Oct. 15 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Denpasar, Bali.
