Interesting to hear during the interview that Azer is touting the banana fibre as a naturally waterproof product and fire resistant too. They have claimed this for a long time now. A friend of mine gave me a pair of Aussiebum undies which are made from 100% banana fibre (bark of the stem). Here is what Aussiebum founder says of the fibre "Banana fibre characteristically enjoys good luster, is lightweight, offers strong moisture absorption and is considered one of the most eco friendly fibers in the world today". Isn't that interesting he says that banana fibre has strong moisture absorption characteristics. I put the undies straight out of the packet into sink of water and man they soaked the water up big time. Spun them out, dried them and tried to set fire to them. Guess what? They caught fire easily. PPY don't use chemicals or water in there process so what is PPY doing then to make banana fibre water proof and fire resistant?
