Ukraine was doing just fine in 2013, Yanukovich had been elected on a commitment to join the EFTA the economy was growing slowly held back by Yanukovich's corruption admittedly and there was no war, no claims of 40mn people being Nazis and in general life was ok apart from the huge corruption issue.
You will recall it was Putin who issued threats to Y so he would not sign the EFTA and then bribed him with $3bn which Y immediately transfrred out of the NBU.
The EFTA is not about joining Europe or NATO it is just a trade agreement. Problem is that Putin had already decided that Ukraine should join the Eurasian Union along with other despot run failed states. Ukraine not agreeing to this leaves P's Eurasian dream in tatters and so now he is attempting the same by force in both Georgia and Ukraine. Deliveries of tanks, armaments and soldiers from Russia to Lugansk and Donetsk have increased hugely since April.
We are also seeing a build up of Russian military in Kazhakstan and so I expect that during the summer either this year or next but probably this year we will see a further Russian invasion of Ukraine to take the coastline and all the Eastern oblasts ... Russia needs their industry for its war machine as well.
When this happens no doubt the members of HC will all blame the West for forcing Putin to go to war in Ukraine and will blame Ukrainians themselves for being CIA sponsored fascist jewish nazis.
Donetsk and Lugansk now have more than 800 tanks more than Germany and the UK combined why did Putin send them into Ukraine? I doubt it is to pull ploughs but to take more territory.
