Debt to market cap to me isn’t a real measure, provides some tool for comparison yes but debt to equity maybe more useful. Debt around 3.2x times balance sheet equity.
You mentioned banks, nab debt inc deposits plus subordinated debt to equity is like 11x. Compared To market cap is like 7x plus. So compared to HUMM having debt at 5x market cap is not so bad. Off course there are many variables to consider simultaneously and HUMM is no NAB.
and as jd2 posted some valid points.
HUMM velocity of receivables to cash is slower compared to Afterpay also due to its target market.
everything had risk and question is can HUMM manage it
