No offence guys, but I don't know why everyone is obsessed with pre-orders.
Yes lilly needed them, because they had such a long way until product and retail revenue.
We're shipping to retailers in the next quarter, to sit on shelves. our revenue is imminent.
Yes the consumer preorders would likely be small. so much work to get 25,000 pre-orders, when walmart would order double that or more in one go.
It will be great to have both channels of distribution (direct to consumer and retail) bringing us revenue, especially as direct we keep all the retail markup on top of our wholesale profit, but i don't think pre-orders are the main game.
IMO i'd be disappointed if they released pre-order numbers - it would just halt the momentum of the SP. Better to wait and announce decent sales deals to retailers which IMO would be much more significant and are to be expected within the next 2 months.
Most retailers bought for Christmas straight after last Christmas. That's how retail works. If PR can make this a 'hot' item and they can move quickly with meeting retailers then they could get this included in the assortment but the buying would have to come very soon. Remember, Christmas starts in October. Freighting this stuff from China into their DC would take about 6-8 weeks, so the orders should start rolling in through the next 8 weeks if they haven't already.
