From GMC and shareholders perspective what you suggest makes absolute sense
But putting on the lender's hat though, why would you accept 25% additional ownership, when you can hard ball, force GMC into VA and walk away with the two smelters 100%.
If i was the lender and I knew GMC has no cash, cannot raise equity (because it is suspended), I would be saying to GMC pay me $5.5M, or put yourself into VA, and if a distressed sale doesn't get them $5.5M (the only assets they have are the two refurbished smelters), then the lender gets them....
I really feel sorry for the way shareholders have been treated, 12 delays since the start of the year, and now they have no idea where they stand....
It wouldnt surprise me if GMC announced this 52M EUR deal fell through, but they have found a new cornerstone investor who wants to "imminently" make a deal with them for $5 billion USD lol
