Even with a balanced Board, from what I gathered, some believe that RC has struck a buddy's deal. Imagine if the Board consists of only RC and his two directors. That is why it was so important in the dog-fight to keep Askin and his directors to balance the power of RC. This was the point that was continuously stressed to the people opposing Askin. The reward from transparency far exceeds the satisfaction from extracting penalty for past accountability. Fortunately, the majority saw the danger.

In this case IMO the deal is clean.
. A buddy deal will give West Amadeus and South Georgina away, this did not happen.
. A buddy deal will strike a price way below the going average, this did not happen.
. A buddy deal will include Surprise, this did not happen.
A buddy deal did not happen.

Perhaps, a buddy deal did happen. Santos gave CTP a buddy's deal.
. Santos could have waited for CTP to give up those tenements and get the whole 100%.
. Santos could have waited for the CR, and when the SP is 1c as a result of the CR, launch a takeover at 5 times the SP.
. Santos could have refused to take the oil from Surprise and starve CTP of cash.
