I'm sure the unbelievable depth has played a significant factor in well design and tubing size.
From 5km deep, even at the quoted BHP, the gas/fluids would struggle to reach surface through large tubing at a strong rate...and could damage the perfs.
3.5 inch tubing maybe seen as small considering the expected reservoir quality- management are just playing it safe.
we'd all be in tears if an announcement came out advising we need another $10m to drill another discovery well due to a poor design and test program collapsed the perforations.
that being said...would love them to just send all 3 zones up the 7" casing and just horse on it through a 2" choke and crack the 100 mmscf barrier!!!
