The only reason the excavator replaced the shovel was reduced cost. The nay-sayers main point here is that we aren't convinced cost is being heavily reduced with this robot. It seems that only time is being saved (maybe). Also this machine is hardly a "precision" machine - .5cm accuracy is pretty poor in the construction world, .5mm is where it should be.
