Crusty, the timing was purely coincidental.

Look at the time stamps on my starting post for the new thread vs the announcement - I was composing the starting message of the new thread at the time the announcement popped up, then posted it. So the new thread was initiated before I saw the announcement. So please do not accuse me of doing something I didn't do.

Regarding the ability or otherwise to hold a rational discussion, just look at the other recent threads - sensible posts are overhwelmed in number by posts which contribute little to the debate in that thread.

Any view, positive, neutral or otherwise, expressed by one of the perveived "negative camp" members is jumped on by the "positive camp" and vice versa.

Combine the above two effects, and a rational, constructive discussion seems nigh impossible.
