"Prospective parents undergoing IVF are paying up to $5000 for cutting-edge genetic tests in a bid to bolster their chances of having a healthy baby. This is in addition to the tens of thousands of dollars spent on fertility treatment.
Leading clinics are experiencing surging demand for preimplantation genetic screening (PGS), also known as embryo screening, which aims to reduce the risk of miscarriage by checking whether an embryo is genetically normal before it is implanted.
Monash IVF Group, which operates more than 20 clinics, now carries out the procedure for more than half of all IVF cycles, up from 4 per cent in 2012."
