You realise the second wave and one of longest l9ckdowns in the world was primarily caused by poor execution of covid policy by the Andrews Government in the first place? Shutting down a society for weeks on end to fix mistakes is not a success Lapdog, it is trying to fixing a previous failure.

Anyway, there a lots of non monetary impacts as well. Its not a simple people before profits narative I'm sure you love to use.

Impacts such as large reductions in cancer diagnosis, massive waiting lists for elective surgeries, mental health issues, substance abuse, rise in domestic violence and increased obesity are all issues that are of concern.

no one is denying restrictions were needed to arrest the rise in cases in June/July, but its the singular focus on covid and lack of balance that is arguably just as damaging.

sadly these opinion polls show that a) people dont think deeply about an issue beyond it's impact on themselves and are b) easily manipulated by simple naratives and rhetoric playing on fear.
