* GEORGE Jones and Ken Talbot go back a long way, and what better way for an old mate to display their support than to invite Talbot on to his board at Sundance Resources? Talbot was charged with making corrupt payments in January and stepped down at Macarthur Coal but has kept on investing through his private company. Sundance has big iron hopes in Cameroon and Talbot, who had already put money into the company (as had Ralph Sarich), flew to Africa in July to have a look, then increased his holding to 19.6 per cent. Jones, meanwhile, is apparently keeping alive the dream of merging Sundance with the other iron ore company he chairs, Gindalbie Metals, to create what one source called "Fortescue Mark II". Could the world cope with such a concept?
If GBG and SDL become a Fortescue MKII then I won't be complaining
