There's only one way that this confident " young man " is moving,and that is striding " confidently on " into the future, i.e forward looking only into the possibilities/probabilities that this whole new world can offer. He aint even dreaming much. He just knows what he's doing, pressing on with the fundermentals in life, crossing every bridge he encounters, leaving doubters in the dust.
