I meant 2 years top to bottom....recovery times can vary....mabe 1 to 4 years.

here is a very simple DOW chart from yahoo finance. It goes back to 1928. You can zoom into the various bears since then and have a close look for yourself.

1929-1932, 1937, 1972 to 1974 may be good examples to start with
