The next draft of the substantive mining law is expected before the ABG parliament in month or two.
The draft of the new law must return the SML land to the Panguna landowners and allow them the unfettered right to decide whom they want to mine the deposit. I think anything less that a full return of the land will result in further issues at the site. I understand from people close to the process that their instructions are to remove the current right of BOC to the EL and return the land to the landowners along with a full veto right in favour of any development.
