    Refractory ore types are commonplace in West Africa, that's why it's taken so long to get mines developed in that part of the world. It's not so big an issue, the ore just requires one or two more steps of processing to get decent recovery rates of 80%+, which adds to the costs. Most gold mines up for development these days are refractory.

    If it's a refractory ore type and it's in Australia, RUN the other way. Conventional ore types are too costly to process in Australia, refractories don't stand a chance.
