Hello GK. Disagree with most residents needing 2 x 22500ltr tanks. In most cases, 1 would be more than sufficient, unless you lived in an area with minimal rain fall. Typical residents in Victoria, NSW etc would more than cope with one 22500ltr tank. A lot of families are running households off 1x10,000ltr tank($1700-$1800 approx), some opting to have rainbank backup.
Costs for a 22500ltr tank are around $2500 including delivery(in extremely remote areas, a delivery will apply). A pump costs between $150-$1000 if you want a rainbank(top of the range). Electrician, say $250 for power point, and plumbing costs would be in the range of $1000-$3000 to run water pipes, and stormwater to and from tank etc.
Costing for tank even at the top end comes in at $6750, compared with $30,000. Then with the tank, you can get a rebate of up to $1,500.
I think for remote areas it would be great, and certain overseas locations. However, to become viable in Australia, I feel it will need to be gov funded, or big rebate incentives to counter act the significantly higher price compared to installing a water tank.
Love the technology, but just a bit pricey.
