BCL gave up their right when they treated the land & the landowners so badly they caused a civil war.
The political system changed & a new Mining Act was legislated giving the ownership of all minerals to the land holders. The mine 'ownership' changed.
BCL made extremely minimal attempts to negotiate with the landowners, or pay reparations for their previous environmental damage, & thereby forfeited any rights to the mine.
It is now for the owners of the minerals, the landowners. to negotiate with & decide who will operate the mine, & on what terms, & for the government, the ABG, to approve & negotiate their taxes & royalties.
A degree simplistic but factual.
End of story. BCL = BOC = arrogant cock up!
