There is a lot of discussion on this forum of whether Cardinal Pell is guilty or innocent.
It is worth saying that in our society there is a presumption of innocence unless one is found guilty of a crime. In the absence of such a verdict it is only fair that his right to that presumption be respected.
To be convicted of a crime there must be no reasonable doubt. This high bar for conviction is there for good reason. As Blackstone wrote in the 1760s; "It is better that ten guilty persons go free than one innocent suffer".
