imo - aside from the tickle my tummy stuff, our governments are hell bent creating the illusion of progress (illusion is so powerful as any magician will testify) - hoping and praying that we don't twig this, and most people don't. So nothing of substance is ever done and no progress is made. We are in pre-election mode from one election to the next.
