Getting hydrogen from coal is not hard - prior to being replaced by natural gas, coal gas (produced from coal and containing around 50% hydrogen) was what was used in industrial processes and piped to homes. The hard bit is getting rid of the GHGs, and no reason this will be any easier than sequestering CO2 from simply burning coal.
