The slurry pipeline and operation at port in SA by HIO could create 750-1000 construction jobs to SA economy.
Also, the slurry pipeline could be connected to and shared with other IO projects in SA in the future, an obvious benefit to other SA iron ore projects and its economy.
HIO's IO operation in SA can help the port authorities there collect substantial fee to upgrade/expand/deepen its ports for all stakeholders, not just HIO.
It makes sense that HIO should be financially supported by SA government in its ambition to turn SA into an IO hub. And that is why HIO has lodge an application for Major Project Status in SA.
