I am intrigued by 'practising accountant' whose postings have been interesting, mainly because their principal focus is on anything but the accounts.

Presumably the choice of the moniker to be seen by all had some purpose.

I would be interested in PA's views on the 3 pages of notes which were devoted to changing the description of intangibles generally to 'technical rights', in the draft a/cs re 30/6/09; that was a lot of notes without apparent explanation of why they considered the exercise to be necessary; apart from one possible reason (a sale of 'technical rights' in future is probably easier than selling 'goodwill on acquisition'!), I would be interested in PA's observations on that change; some posters have said that 'it doesn't matter because they're still intangibles', but that's not an answer as to why they went to the trouble of occupying pages of notes without apparent explanation for an apparently pointless exercise.
