the topic is on the news again .. nothing new about coles and woolies price gouging .. also a comment on the news this morning was the disparity between what the farmer gets, and the price at the retail end ...

ahh the pr department of the majors are great ..

forget which major it was - but they commented that dividends from profits are received from hundreds of thousands of australian mum and dad investors but no mention that 60% + of coles and woolies investors are american (watso forgets now - but from memory those american investors get a good deal - in relation to tax) ..

and of course - coles have their advertising of coles value - the australian way (or whatever) with video of happy australian farmers blah blah blah

seriously - but we are a sucker for propaganda ...

australian shoppers could make a difference - simply by shopping elsewhere .. but that would be too much of an effort .. far easier just to go to coles , or woolies, and do the weekly shop and fill up the trolley - and pay the relevant prices ..

watso only uses coles and woolies for rtc .. obviously that would not be a sustainable business model for the majors if everyone tried to do that ..

from where watso lives there are 4 woolworths shops and one aldi shop - within a similar distance .. but fatso watso, on his pushie , is happy to cycle around and take the time to find the best deals (the vegie shops in the shopping centres are great places to look) .. but most people would simply go to the nearest shops ..

oh ,and watso has no problems cycling to spudshed - to get their good deals .. but there are not too many spud shed stores around the metro area..

anyway - a plug for spud shed .. butt a few years ago, watso caught the train to the Kelmscott train station - and onto the spud shed store .. and at the rear loading dock (where the produce arrives for the store) .. there was tony galati , with a broom , cleaning up
