Well if you pay peanuts you will get monkies I guess (no offence to the actually people themselves) but having worked in a few large companies including banks I know how the customer service operators/consultants work. It is a very high turn over area in any company and you generally find all people who know move up and on to other things and you get people who have no experience or very limited trainging taking on tasks they are not able to do. Most companies are understaffed/under trained in these types of roles where as you have more managers doing bugger all than anything else.

It would be very interesting to venture into ASIC and see how they operate, what systems they use and the type of training people get.
