it's not overly surprising for the stock to rise given both NAB and CBA increased sizeable positions during the recent past..... WSA was oversold in comparison to nickel, compare the WSA price vs the nickel price in AUD in place of USD....
Also, whether it's for shorting or not - it creates additional interest from big guys and also, unless they are shorting 100% of the shares bought immediately then that is upward pressure not downwards... also, banks are obv bullish on nickel with the four who funded Sirius announced very recently....
