Surely some readers must have noticed significant buy and sell orders being placed early in the 10 minutes of the pre open and then being pulled, sometimes just as the stock was about to trade.

This also happened when the stock spiked to over $3.40 on opening. A sell order was pulled off late resulting in the buyers probably paying more than they bargained for.
