i was actually not proposing that Bluegen would fire up when needed, rather that it would always be on, as it is designed to do, providing your baseload requirements. When the rest of the grid then blacks out, you would be protected as you are already making your own power. So it ends up being performing the function of a back up generator, however it is always on.

Even if, for instance, a restaurant draws more than 2kW, the Bluegen could be linked to critical equipment such as refrigerators and cool rooms to safeguard them, whilst non-critical applications such as lighting rely on grid generated power...
