For myself - if i think a stock has run too hard against its metrics - I put on a falling sell 5% below current price to protect against steep reversions common to really vertical price moves.
then I buy it back after reversion if and where I can - assuming I like company and thematics.
I did this on recent srx shift - now have more of the stock at only slightly higher average price - factoring in my initial position.
just one approach. and obviously doesn't always work - but then nothing is foolproof.
