I've been curious to know what the current price of natural flake graphite really is. So I took to Alibaba to get a few quotes from graphite suppliers in China. After some negotiating to try and get them to provide their best quote for 10kt of material (their minimum order being 5t). The below is an approximation of the average quotes I received:
+100 mesh 98% carbon FOB Qingdao = US$1470/t
-100 mesh 98% carbon FOB Qingdao - US$1170/t
Can anyone explain how we are getting prices of $450/t for the fine flake graphite?? I'm sure Gredmann would be selling it at >$800/t easily.
